Meeting Agenda

At these meeting we will introduce the coaches, fill out information cards, discuss goal sheets and captains.
We will also give you our 2010 track meet schedule.

Remember Fairport Boys & Girls Track & Field has a very rich tradition of excellence. In the past twenty years,
Fairport has won the Monroe County and or Section V Championships more than twenty times. In the last eight
years alone, Fairport has sent more than 99 athletes to the New York State Championships and has won more
than forty-four medals at the NYS Championships. Last year alone, the girls & boys 1600 meter relays qualified as did Angela Ryck, Jenn Spitzer, Jordyn Naylon, Jennie Springer and Lauren Burke in the 3200 meter relay for the NYS Championships at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. They finished 2nd and established a Section V record of 9:09.09—the 7th fastest time in the USA in 2009.

We need many new and enthusiastic people to fill the 17 track & field events; everyone who comes out –
and gives her or his best – makes the team. With all these events to fill, plus three relays, everyone has an event…
and you will find success and have fun with our track family. Plan right now to come out: Prepare in advance for
the start of the track season by running in the days and weeks ahead until practice starts
, if you have not already
done so. If you demonstrate that kind of initiative and drive, you will be highly successful, and you will help the team
strive to do even better than it has done before. The Fairport Boys & Girls Track program has been building momentum
over the last four years to be one of the elite teams in Section V and NYS
: Our time is now. Let’s get it done!

1st Practice: Monday, March 8, 2010 at FHS at 3:30 to 5:30. Come prepared. You should come to run, outside with gloves, hat, sweat shirt & sweat pants and running shoes. We will meet near the auditorium. Remember, if you have not been running since our informational meeting, or earlier, you will struggle, develop some discomfort, and possibly even get injured. With that concern in mind, Coach Van Auker and the other coaches will hold “open gym” workouts for anyone interested in participating—helping you prepare for the start of spring track season–from March 2 through March 6 at FHS from 3:30 to 4:15. Please PREPARE. PREPARE. PREPARE. PREPARE. PREPARE. Be sure your physicals are updated: See the nurse at your school ASAP; without an updated physical, you will not be able to participate, and your practices will not count until you are approved by the athletic director.

Do everything you can to encourage your friends to join the Fairport Girls Track & Field Team. You can make our team the biggest, most determined, most dedicated, and the most successful team in Section V this spring.

See you on Monday, March 8th, at 3:30 for the Girls, and 3:45 for the Boys–our 1st practice,

~ Your Fairport Track & Field Coaches ~
